Ali Osman Emiroğlu, Dentist of Emident Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Polyclinic, explains how the crooked teeth are corrected with treatment.

“With orthodontic treatment, we can prevent the collisions in that area by making removable appliances for our mixed dentition children, especially in the developmental age. In the period when mixed dentition ends, these irregularities are eliminated within 2-2.5 years with fixed orthodontic treatment.”

One of the most important problems with teeth is crooked, crooked or crooked teeth. When the teeth do not appear properly in the jawbone, they cause aesthetic and functional problems. In this case, food residues accumulate on the teeth and as a result, the teeth begin to decay. For this reason, crooked and crooked teeth must be treated.

If there is no skeletal disorder, crooked, crooked, split teeth can be corrected at any age with orthodontic treatment. Braces should be applied in cases of crowding. These can be metal brackets, porcelain (transparent) brackets, lingual brackets, clear plaques, or a wireless treatment method. As orthodontists, by applying forces that will not only cause the movement of the teeth but will not harm them, the teeth can be straightened by moving within the jawbone, without cutting the teeth and without veneer.

Although other methods may seem attractive at first, as the duration will be short, the difference and advantage of orthodontic treatment from other applications; It is a natural treatment method. What is meant by being natural is that; The individual’s own teeth remain in his mouth and aesthetically and functionally corrected. In other treatments, the teeth can have an aesthetically beautiful appearance by applying prosthetics, crowns, bridges or coatings to the teeth. However, in these applications, tooth extraction can be performed, the outer surface of the tooth can be shaved for veneer, or laminated veneer can be applied to the intact tooth with minimal thinning of the texture. These methods can be seen as short-term and appropriate compared to orthodontics. But in the long run, chewing and biting problems may occur because you do not have your own teeth, their lifespan is short and they are expensive compared to other methods. The important thing here is to make your own teeth healthy and to use your own teeth for life.
