What Are the Surgical Complications of a Dental Implant?

Emident Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Clinic Dentist Ali Osman Emiroğlu explains the surgical complications of dental implants and their solutions.

“As in every surgical operation, existing complications may develop in dental implant applications. Since dental implant surgery has an invasive and simple protocol, complications are also simple.”

The fact that dental treatment methods have changed considerably in recent years has paved the way for the formation of new dental treatment methods. Dental implant treatment is one of these methods. There are some complications that may occur after the implant application, which many people prefer to do.

Although dental implant applications give very successful results, there are some complications that can be seen after these applications. These include conditions such as redness, pain, swelling, bruising and pain. In some cases, problems such as inflammation and falling of the dental implant may be encountered after the application of the dental implant. In such cases, if there is no doctor’s fault, it is possible that the patient does not take into account the recommendations of the dentist and there are problems arising from the hygiene problem. Serious complications can also occur due to doctor’s error. Among the serious problems, sinus inflammation, nerve rupture, permanent numbness in the lips, loss of teeth next to the dental implant as a result of improper application, vertical and horizontal bone losses, soft tissue losses and similar serious problems may arise due to incorrect application of the dental implant.
